$100 blender can't even blend a banana

This is my Cuisinart Sucks story::  First of all: great website...love it! Here's my story: Registered for all kinds of Cuisinart appliances when we were getting married. Why? Who knows? I suppose we were coerced by the store employees. Anyways, we received a Cuisinart 4-slice toaster (works pretty good), a Cuisinart coffee machine (husband hates it and wishes we had our old Mr. Coffee back), and Cuisinart blender...which I HATE! I don't think I used the $100 blender even once in our first year of marriage, but recently I have tried to use several times to make smoothies and guess what? Impossible. Let me tell you what my smoothies consist of: a handful of ice cubes, banana chunks and fresh strawberries...that is it. This blender sucks so much that it cannot even blend a banana, much less ice...so I don't know why there is a special button labeled "ice crush"- doesn't work. In order to make a smoothie, I must stir in between pulses in order to get the ice and fruit blended. What good is a blender that cannot make a smoothie at the touch of a button? What will it blend? I already know from a failed attempt at a pesto sauce that it cannot be used as a food processor (so of course I went out and got the Cuisinart mini-prep...wonder how long it will last). What can I make in my $100 blender? The sick thing is that I chose the Cuisinart blender because it was the only blender with a glass pitcher instead of plastic. I thought that would help it last longer. But you know what, after use number 6 (today) I noticed that the handle has cracks forming at the top and bottom...awesome. Unbelievable.

Couldn't agree more. For my first time I forked out a lot of money on an appliance Cuisinart blender and it is a standing joke in our family. When you make a smoothie and add a banana, there is always, always a chunk of banana that plops into your glass. We have tried every blending option and it still happens. It is noisy and has a very flimsy plastic rim, and an extremely heavy glass jar. It is only a matter of time till the heavy vessel comes down too hard at an angle and cracks the plastic. What a waste of money, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Here in DC, I was just screaming at my blender: "YOU ARE USELESS!"

I have a Cuisinart mini-prep processor, purchased in 1999. I shipped it back from my parents' house. There's $12 I'll never get back. Why I did this, I don't know. I too have just attempted to make pesto. You know pesto -- pine nuts, parm cheese, basil, garlic and olive oil.

It works great. When there is nothing in there.

What happened was I loaded it, oh, I'd say low to medium full. Kept getting stuck (the instruction manual seems to anticipate this eventuality). So, following the instructions, I took everything out, and started it back up, one basil leaf at a time. Yep. One at a time. Worked like a charm. And we all know that this is the fastest way to make basil, right?

So I had to break out the ole mortar and pestle to finish the job.

Dream scream at Cuisinart: YOUR MINI PREP SUCKS. What good is this machine if I am opening it up every 5th second? It does not turn. Good day, m'am-sir! I said good day!

Could not agree more! It will not even blend/ puree cauliflower that has been cooked to within an inch of it's life, let alone a smoothie. Been used maybe 4 times, and went in the trash this last attempt.

Useless piece of junk. Noisy and doesn't perform as advertised. Thought the extra money might buy some quality her but sorely disappointed.

I thought for sure, when I started blending my first two bananas, I had forgotten to assemble the blade part of the blender. Nope, everything was intact. Garbage, just garbage. Do I have to spend $700 just to have a smoothie?

Ditto to all above who are dissatisfied with their Cuisinart products. I've had 2 coffee makers go bad and a blender that outright just sucks. Couldn't crush or blend an ice cube if it's life depended on it! one of the coffee makers actually started a small fire in the outlet - blackened it and everything. They told me to cut off a part of the cord and send it in and they would process. Didn't think it was worth the money in mailing it to them. They did send me a coupon / discount for another but I've been fine with my Mr. Coffee since then - you know a cheapo Mr. Coffee machine that they used to sell before all of those new fangled espresso cappucino latte K cup thing a ma jigs. So sick of technology, but I know it makes life easier - WHEN IT WORKS!!!
