Any advice for Julie?

I'm hoping you can give me some advice regarding how to handle his situation?

I received a cuisinart ss-1 single serve coffee maker in late January as a birthday gift. My daughter paid $199.00.
It never worked properly, when I could get it to work at all it would provide only 1/2 or less of a cup of coffee.
I was told by a very nice customer service rep that I needed to send the brewer back(cost me $15) and I would receive a letter of credit for $199 with which to purchase a new coffeemaker or whatever from cuisinart, no refund.
today, over 3weeks after they received my brewer back I got the letter of credit. It was for $182 ?? So I called to order a new brewer and I'm told I have to wait 2-3 weeks for the corporate office to call me and take the order- huh?????
So now I'm out $15 s/h + $16.50 that I'll have to pay to purchase another $199 brewer and probably shipping again all for a coffeemaker that was a birthday gift.
What do you suggest?
Thanks
Julie

You're not out any money. Your daughter is. Cheap ass parents who believe they are entitled to their childrens money should not be parents at all! SHAME ON YOU.

Julie: I was waiting to see if the person who made this comment might reveal who they were. They did not. I wondered why in the world someone that angry would have been spending time on this website and why they would pick your post to make a comment about parenting. This website is about Cuisinart's poor customer care and cheap products--not about parenting. I'm halfway tempted to remove their comment all together but have not done so because I'd really like the general internet public to see that I'm allowing all comments to be visible on the site--good or bad.
