This is my Cuisinart Sucks story:: I recently
purchased a cuisinart rice cooker. The lining of the pot (despite very
gentle care when washing or removing rice) has been shedding into the
food. The product comes with a gray plastic spoon for scooping out the
rice, but even this is sufficient to scratch the lining. I was
concerned about the composition of the lining since I am ingesting it
on a regular basis, so I contacted Cuisinart. They did not respond to
my first 3 emails (over the course of 1 month), and only after I become
rather rude did a customer representative respond (Ann Marie). I was
just asked for the model #, serial #, etc. to verify a warranty. She
would not tell me what was in the lining. I responded, providing her
with the requested information, and she replied with the exact same
email, requesting the serial #, etc. This happened 3 times. She was
copying and pasting the same email into the reply space, even though I
had already given her all of the information for which she had asked.
It was like corresponding with a broken email robot.
I wrote again and demanded to know what was in the lining. She told me
it was a Daikin lining (2 step process). I told her that I wanted to
know what it was made of, not which company made it. I wanted to know
if the substance that has been shedding into my food is toxic or not.
She told me that they do not have this information. I am furious
because this was a very expensive item and now I am even more worried
that I have been consuming something very unhealthy. She still will not
tell me how to return the product for a refund. I know it is still
under warranty, but I do not want another one. I just want the $80 back
and to be rid of anything Cuisinart related forever. They are a
horrible company.
